1. Three paths

PathWhere content goesWhat Everdrift can see
Apple's local modelsProcessed on your MacNo inputs, outputs or model calls received
Everdrift-hosted AIForwarded through Singapore staging to the provider shown for that requestRequest bodies are processed; the database retains only metadata excluding bodies
Your own API keysThe client connects directly to your chosen providerNo complete requests, responses or provider bills received

2. Apple's local models

Local-mode inputs and outputs stay on your Mac, do not pass through Everdrift servers and do not consume Everdrift hosted credits. System capabilities, speed and results depend on your device and macOS.

3. Everdrift-hosted AI

When you actively choose hosted AI, the text, instructions, feature identifier and request identifier needed for the task are sent to Everdrift Singapore staging. After authentication, allowance checks, model routing and security controls, the request is passed to the model provider clearly shown in the interface. Providers may include DeepSeek or others added later.

Everdrift's current database does not store prompt or response bodies. It stores only metadata such as request IDs, features, models, tokens, estimated costs, status, timestamps, environments and error categories.

The site does not promise zero data retention without a dedicated provider contract supporting that promise. Do not submit personal, secret or regulated information that is unnecessary for the task.

4. Your own API keys

With your own API key, the client sends requests directly to your chosen provider. Usage, fees, content retention and security obligations are governed by your arrangements with that provider. Everdrift should not upload or host your key or count these requests as hosted usage.

5. Choice and minimization

  • Before first use of hosted AI, clearly show that content will leave the device;
  • Send only the text required for the current request;
  • Show the new path, price and data boundaries when changing models or providers;
  • Keep local capabilities available after hosted consent is withdrawn.

6. Retention and deletion

Everdrift retains AI request bodies for 0 days. Request metadata excluding bodies and risk events are currently retained for 30 days, daily cost aggregates for 400 days and encrypted database backups for 14 days. Retention by providers selected for hosted AI or your own keys is governed by the provider policies and contracts clearly shown and actually applicable at the time of the request.

7. Output and changes

AI may generate incorrect, biased, incomplete or similar-to-others content. High-risk uses need independent verification. Everdrift will update this information and the privacy policy when providers, processing regions, body retention, purposes or data categories materially change, obtaining renewed consent where applicable.

8. Provider references

The following links describe current candidate paths and do not mean Mouse Captain is permanently tied to any one provider.
